2010-10-10: Boating, Fleet Week and the Blue Angels!

Aunty Claire and her boyfriend/fiance, John, invited Mommy, Daddy and Anthony to go on their boat on San Francisco bay for the second day of Fleet Week festivities. Fleet Week is a parade of boats followed by lots of air shows in celebration of Navy ships coming in to the bay to stay for the week before shipping back out. Here's the web site. We didn't go to day one to see the parade of ships, but went on this boat trip for day two. Both days have air shows that go for 4 hours with the last hour being the Blue Angels. They were REALLY LOUD and Anthony got a little scared, but did very well and talked about seeing the jets for the rest of the week. He did get a little sea sick, but didn't puke. Its been soooo long since Daddy was on a boat (having sold his old one), so this trip was very much appreciated. Other people were on the boat and Anthony was the cutie pie star...of course. We left from Pier 39 at Fisherman's Wharf went out under the Bay Bridge, around Treasure Island, then around Alkatraz where we anchored to watch the air show and have dinner (the food people brought was awesome). We all had a great time.

2010-10-10: While waiting we ran on to the pier and rode the merrygoround. That's Aunty Claire, Anthony and Mommy.

2010-10-10: Those are the sea lions lying all over the docks at the end of Pier 39 as seen from the docks.

2010-10-10: This is the boat we were on. Very nice ride. There's a giant screen tv and some very compfy recliners in the main cab. I didn't take any pictures of the inside. We had the SF Giants game on while tooling around.

2010-10-10: That's the Golden Gate Bridge off in the distance with some fog theatening to cover one of the towers.

You can see the smoke trails of the biplanes and stunt planes that were performing as we motored around the bay.

2010-10-10: Anthony and John. Anthony is reacting to the planes in the sky.

2010-10-10: This finished as a heart with an arrow through it.

2010-10-10: FAT ALBERT!!! This is the crew and maintenance plane for the Blue Angels (I think it's a C10). It starts off the Blue Angels show by showing the crowd what a C10 can do, which is pretty awesome.

2010-10-10: Fuzzy close up of Fat Albert.

2010-10-10: (VIDEO): The Blue Angels always make their grand entry from the east and go straight at the crowd that is watching on shore and listening to the narator. This camera sucks at taking video.

2010-10-10: (VIDEO): This is just a few seconds of the jets making a turn before I got frustrated with video mode.

2010-10-10

2010-10-10: Anthony was mesmerized with the air show and the jets.
