2010-09-11: California Academy of Sciences
Anthony is an afternoon
napper, but he's been getting really good lately with staying up and pushing
it. Better still is that Mommy and Daddy are finally getting back out and
doing things. This time we've got Anthony to have fun with. We decided to
take him to the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park. It recently
was completely rebuilt and Daddy was itching to go see it having had to pass
on being part of the opening day festivities as part of his astronomy club.
(yup, he's still doing that, sorta). Anthony had a blast, and so did Mommy
and Daddy. We might become members for next season.

is a sealed glass dome inside the main building also made of glass (freaky).
Its sealed because it's a self contained rain forest complete with birds
and
butterflies
flying
everywhere.
Not to mention an ungodly absolutely styfling humidity level simulating a
real rain forest. The higher you walk on the walkway the higher up in the
forest you go....and the hotter and muggier it gets. Anthony and Mommy did
ok. Daddy, not so good.

the highest level (The Canopy) are butterflies flying everywhere, but for
some reason in these pictures the butterflies don't standout at all. Not
sure how that happened. But, trust me, they were everywhere.

time. BTW....the top of the roof you just bearly see through the big ass
skylight is an actual exhibit. They turned the roof in to a grassy glade
equal to something near the beaches. It's also part of the building's plumbing
and water filteration system. Coolness.
